3VEF AWARDS MINI-GRANTS FOR 2008 -- 2009 SCHOOL YEAR
Three Village teachers were awarded Educational Foundation mini-grants for innovative technologies in projects including poetry Pod-casts, digital recordings of music rehearsals, a virtual alphabet quilt, testing software for automobile starter circuits, and a video-microscope study of geologic features. The Three Village Educational Foundation (3VEF) is a private, not-for-profit organization that supports our community’s schools.
“The various submissions align with our curriculum and reflect creativity. I am certain that our students will benefit from the learning experience provided,” said Cheryl Pedisich, Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services.
Ralph Ferrie, Superintendent of Schools, added, “The Board unanimously and with appreciation approved the mini-grant donation.” Grants were awarded to teachers at Superintendent’s Conference Day at the beginning of the new school year.
Eighteen projects were funded with mini-grants up to $500. Support was also awarded for ideas in art, cultural awareness, environmental conservation, music, literature and history. Chris Buzzanca, 3VEF President, noted “I am particularly pleased that the mini-grant program will impact over 3,500 students this year. And I’d especially like to thank our donors for their generous support of the Foundation’s work.”
